Trek the Trail

Sunday 19th September 2010

Event Times:
9am - 3pm,
cyclists depart at 9am and walkers at 9.30am

Location:
Railway Reserves Heritage Trail, Parkerville, Shire of Mundaring, Perth Hills

Event Overview:
Trek the Trail is Shire of Mundaring's premier free walking and cycling event that takes place every September along a different section of Railway Reserves Heritage Trail.

Event Description:
Join
Trek the Trail 2010 on Sunday 19 September along Railway Reserves Heritage Trail between Parkerville and Swan View.

Walk or cycle this 8.4 kilometre section of Railway Reserves Heritage Trail as it traverses the picturesque John Forrest National Park. Your journey will take you past both natural and historical highlights including Hovea Railway Platform, Hovea Falls, National Park Falls, the wooden trestle bridges, Swan View Tunnel, Swan View Station and, of course, the stunning scenery.

Enjoy art, entertainment, local history, activities and the physical challenge amongst the natural beauty of one of the State's Top Trails.  The appeal of natural bush land, wildfloewrs in full bloom, changing landscapes and unfolding history will certainly complement your walk or ride.  And don't forget to bring your torch to admire the unique construction of the 340 metre long Swan View Tunnel, a great legacy of the railway heritage.

Parking will be available at Parkerville Oval on Seaborne Street, where a courtesy bus will take you to the start of the Trail. Pick up your 'Be Active Passport' from outside Parkerville Hall and congregate with the other participants as you prepare to Trek; cyclists will depart at 9am and walkers at 9.30am.

Celebrate the end of the Trek by listening to music from Swan View Station or indulging in delicious fare, before catching the courtesy bus back to Parkerville.

This event is free and non-competitive so take as long as you like to finish the route or just complete a section of it.  Sorry, no dogs are allowed on Trek.
